Michael van Baarle is the Co-founder and CEO of ABEL Energy. ABEL Energy is an Australian startup established in 2020 to develop green hydrogen and methanol production projects around Australia. The first project is under development at the Port of Bell Bay in Tasmania. The Bell Bay Powerfuels Project will initially produce up to 200,000 tonnes of green methanol per year, with some of the methanol potentially converted to DME for the local LPG industry.
Michael has been involved in methanol and DME project development for over 15 years, and previously sat on the board of the International DME Association. He shares the passion of many in the methanol industry that see an important role for green methanol in the energy transition.
